Bringing Wrap-Around Support to Townsville Families

As part of our mission to ensure every child has an equal start in life, Baby Give Back is proud to be part of a new collaborative wrap-around community service launched last week at the Garbutt Neighbourhood Centre in Townsville.

We’ve been working in the region since February and in just a few short months, we've distributed 343 clothing boxes to local support organisations for families to access. The feedback we receive confirms what we see on the ground - that the need is huge and there is no other organisation offering this level of material aid for babies and children. We’re now partnering with 16 community organisations across Townsville to help meet the growing need.

That’s why we’re so proud to be working alongside CommunityGro Garbutt, Orange Sky and Thread Together to make it easier for locals to access the essentials they need, in one trusted place.

The wrap-around pilot service officially launched on Thursday 17 July at the Garbutt Community Centre. On the day, community members could access:

  • Free laundry services and friendly connection through Orange Sky

  • Brand-new adult clothing from Thread Together

  • Baby and children's clothing (0–5 years) and nappies from Baby Give Back

  • Food and support through local volunteers

This collaboration builds on the trusted work of the Garbutt Community Centre, offering a holistic approach to meeting practical needs - all in one location.

A highlight of the launch event was hearing directly from community members who regularly visit the centre. Their message was clear: having access to clothing for the whole family in one place is a game-changer.

This launch is just the beginning. Together, we’re building stronger, more connected communities where every child can thrive.
