Our Response to Recent Natural Disasters in QLD & Northern NSW

When natural disasters strike, more and more families face overwhelming challenges. At Baby Give Back, we provide essential support to ensure children have access to critical necessities in times of crisis. Here’s a look at our response to the recent natural disasters that have struck North Queensland, South East Queensland and Northern NSW.

Helping over 750 children affected by Tropical Cyclone Alfred

In the wake of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, Baby Give Back has delivered urgent support to families across South-East Queensland, Northern NSW, and Hervey Bay. Heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding, with some areas receiving up to 400 millimeters of rain in 24 hours. With power outages, business closures, stock shortages and evacuation challenges, over 5 million people were affected and many families found themselves without access to basic supplies. Thanks to our incredible supporters, we provided over 750 children with essential clothing, nappies, and hygiene items.

One grateful support worker shared:

“It was an enormous relief when you offered nappies and wipes, among other things, without prior ordering, and we were able to just come in and get what we needed for clients in a mad rush!”

Ongoing support in Townsville & Ingham

Recognising the need for long-term support, we have strengthened our partnerships in North Queensland. In response to requests from Ingham Hospital, we delivered Safe Start Boxes and clothing for 60 children, ensuring families in early recovery have immediate access to essentials.

Our Chief Operating Officer, Shannon, recently visited Townsville to establish a local hub, making our services more accessible to families in need. Having a dedicated presence in the region allows us to respond swiftly to future crises, reinforcing our commitment to providing ongoing assistance.

A local support worker expressed gratitude for our impact:

“Thank you for your ongoing support in helping our clients through this difficult time. It is truly appreciated.”

Continuing our commitment to crisis support

We remain committed to providing ongoing support in affected communities throughout South-East Queensland, Hervey Bay, Northern NSW and Northern Queensland. We have deliveries going out to Lismore and Wardell every few weeks and our Townsville hub allows us to respond faster and maxmise connections in the region. By having boots on the ground, we can ensure immediate and sustained relief when and where families need it most.
