Get Help: Our Programs
A fundamental need for every child to thrive
"Clothing is a basic need for every child and for families in crisis providing it can come at the cost of food, rent or medication. Parents have to dress their children before they can think about other essentials. By supplying quality pre-loved clothing, we ease that financial pressure so parents can focus on keeping their children safe, housed and fed.
We work closely with caseworkers and social service agencies to deliver judgement-free support for newborns to chidlren aged five through our boxes. Every box is thoughtfully packed with essentials donated by caring individuals in our community - our village - giving children an equal start in life, and helping families breathe a little easier and move toward a brighter future. "
Clothing Boxes
In Queensland, 60,000 children aged 0-5 are living in poverty and disadvantage, lacking access to essential basics like clothing.
Clothing Boxes provide families in need with good condition, clean, second-hand essential clothing for their young children. Available for boys and girls, they contain an assortment of summer and winter clothing in sizes ranging from premature (00000) to size 5. Clothing Boxes are packed by volunteers and distributed via caseworkers at health services and social support agencies.
Safe Start Boxes
Each year, around 10,000-12,000 babies in Queensland are born into poverty and disadvantage without access to essential basics for their crucial early weeks.
Safe Start Boxes are a beautifully packaged gift from the community to vulnerable new mothers, easing the stress of not having basic baby essentials. Each box includes everything they need for the first few weeks of life for a new baby. Packed by volunteers, these boxes are distributed through caseworkers at hospitals, health services, and social support agencies.
Natural Disaster Response
When natural disasters strike, more and more families and children are left without access to essential necessities. In these moments of uncertainty and loss, we provide critical supplies to bring comfort, dignity, and stability. We’re able to respond quickly, working with partners on the ground to distribute clothing, nappies, wipes and other essentials to those who need it, fast. Beyond the immediate crisis, we continue to support families as they rebuild. Your donations, essential items, and partnerships make this rapid response possible.
For Families Needing Help
While we can’t support individuals or families directly, if you connect with a Program Partner they’ll be able to place an order on your behalf and one of our team will be in touch with them directly.
We work with different communities to partner with services working on the wider wellbeing needs of families and children with the goal of meeting families where they are at.
We are unable to support families directly because it's important to focus on what we do best - which is coordinating donations in the community and sorting and packing the boxes of support. We're not trained to provide direct support to people experiencing vulnerability and the wrap around support that might be needed.
Our Program Partners include:
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Services
Child & Family Health Services
Midwives
Social Workers
Domestic and Family Violence Support Services
Integrated Child and Family Centres/Neighbourhood Centres
Family and early years school-based hubs
If you need support, please ask your midwife, Child Health Nurse or support worker to reach out to us. If you're unsure of where you should seek support, we recommend starting with Child Health.
We are working on building out a map of our Program Partners so that you can see who we are already working with near you.
