When a workplace shows up for the community, magic happens.
There's a moment that happens in a team volunteering experience that's hard to put into words.
By Tiffany Rose, Chief Engagement Officer, Baby Give Back
A team of colleagues walks into our Gold Coast warehouse, a little unsure of what to expect. Two hours later, they're laughing, sorting, packing and somewhere in the middle of it all, something shifts. They stop thinking about what they came to do and start thinking about who they're doing it for.
Stephanie Murray, Partner at Richardson Murray Family Law, knows that feeling well:
"Something I really recognised in our team after our corporate volunteering day was how important it is to give back - how good it felt to give back. Something that can seem so simple to us actually means so much. The value on the other side was everything."
What team volunteering looks like at Baby Give Back
When a corporate team volunteers with us, they're doing real, hands-on work - sorting donated clothing, packing Clothing Bundles and Safe Start Boxes and getting essentials ready to reach families across Queensland through our network of partner services.
It's practical and tangible. At the end of the session, every person in the room knows exactly what their morning’s work can mean for a child somewhere in Queensland.
For Richardson Murray Family Law, the team experience went beyond the warehouse. Stephanie Murray reflected:
"We've had such positive feedback from our team. It is so good for your team and your staff to be involved in something that gives back."
It stays with you
Melanie Excel, Operations Manager at Little Scholars School of Early Learning, has brought her team along more than once - and says the experience speaks for itself:
"It is such a rewarding experience for everybody. Everybody walks away feeling great, energised, like they've really been able to make a difference and do something for children and families in the community."
For Little Scholars, the partnership goes deeper than a single volunteering day. Their families, educators and children all get involved - through clothing drives, Giving Day fundraising, social media collaboration and financial contributions.
"The philosophy and the values that Baby Give Back have really aligned with what we do at Little Scholars - all about giving back to the children, the families and the community where they need it."
Melanie’s advice to any business considering corporate volunteering at Baby Give Back:
"Just do it. Just go for it. It's an organisation where you can see results straight away. You can see that what happens at Baby Give Back is so immediate for those families that really need things straight away."
ABI Interiors
For the team at ABI Interiors, the day was about more than sorting clothes. It was about seeing the full picture and knowing how your contribution is making a difference - from donation to delivery. Mia Nixon, Retail Manager at ABI Interiors shared:
"It's really nice to get an understanding of who you are and what you do and how you give back to the community. You can definitely see you're surrounded by so many passionate people. It's nice to feel supported and be a part of that."
ABI already has a strong culture of giving - staff regularly donate clothing through bins in the lunchroom and the team is no stranger to showing up when the community needs them. Volunteering with Baby Give Back gave them a chance to see where their donations go and the difference they make for children and families across Queensland.
"It was really nice to see where they end up and how much love and care goes into them before they go back into the community."
And like many teams who visit, they left already thinking about coming back.
"Being able to get the team out of the workplace and come in together and have that bonding experience while giving back to the community is something really special."
More than a day out
The best team experiences are the ones where a team lives their values together and to feel the connection between their work and the wider community they're part of.
That's what brings companies like Richardson Murray Family Law to us. For them, community alignment matters, and it shows in the way their team throws themselves in.
"What we're looking for in a community partner is somebody who is giving back to the community, really engaged in the community and aligns with our values."

That alignment is what makes the partnership work for both sides. Teams bring energy, hands and heart, and together with the support services families already know and trust, that effort reaches children right across Queensland.
It's the invisible village brought to life.
