Our Growing Impact in North Queensland

When we first visited Townsville back in March this year, we immediately recognised the potential for significant impact within this community. And honestly, Townsville, you’ve blown us away! Each time we visit we’re welcomed back with open arms and open hearts in true North Queensland spirit.

During a recent trip in October, I spent time meeting with supporters and community leaders. From MPs to partner organisations, what struck me most was the highly collaborative approach and the genuinely connected community that wraps around families. We are proud to join a network of people determined to make sure children and families in North Queensland don’t go without.

Our COO Shannon has effectively led our support across Townsville. She’s been working closely with local organisations to provide essentials to families facing hardship - whether that’s due to financial strain, housing instability, starting over after domestic violence or the impacts of natural disasters. Hearing and seeing how respected Shannon and Baby Give Back have become across the community has been one of the most heartening moments. The feedback has been consistent: our work is valued, trusted, and makes a tangible difference.

This most recent visit has made it crystal clear: Townsville not only believes in what we do but truly embraces our shared mission to ensure every child has an equal start to life.

Building a Permanent Base in Townsville: Our Next Steps

Our initial outreach and collaboration in Townsville are now leading to a more enduring commitment to North Queensland. Due to the strong engagement and support we have received, we are taking a significant step forward. 

Backed by our growing network of supporters, volunteers and program partners, Baby Give Back has secured some small premises in the city to build a permanent footprint in Townsville. Having a local base will support deeper community engagement and our ability to reach more families across North Queensland when they need it most. 

Together, we are building a more sustainable presence for North Queensland, working collaboratively with local support networks to ensure every child has the essentials they need and the dignity they deserve.
